Book Review

By Justine Kate Balinbin on Puss in Boots

The book is about a clever cat who named Puss. He is very dedicated, kind, and willing to do everything for the good sake of his master named Robin. The author tries to convey that we should think wisely to have a better life. The characters involved are Puss, Robin, the Ogre and the King. The central narrative of the story is we need to think wisely and make wise decisions in everything we do. The author of the book is Charles Perrault. He knows enough to write this book because it has a nice content and the flow of the story is well stated. This book fits in relation to other books because it tells that a wise thinking and wise decision should always be put in consideration as it lead us and give us great results. The author convince me of the argument because it is stated properly that makes it easy to understand. The most memorable about this book is when the clever cat puss deceive the bad ogre to transform into a rat without the ogre’s awareness that he is just under puss tactic. Then afterwards Puss successfully caught and killed the ogre while its in a weak condition as a rat. Though the book has its weaknesses that includes cliff hanger ending and unclear introduction of characters, this book also has its strengths. This includes nice choice of words, well mannered flow of story and easy to understand illustrations that shows what the story is exactly trying to tell. The one that stood up for me in this book is when the cat, Puss bravely face and fight the fierce Ogre even it may lead to his own death. I recommend this book to all because it contains a great story that can grant you entertainment and at the same time a great lesson that we should always think wisely and ponder about our decisions in order to have a better life with no regrets.

The knowledge of author was great to create such amazing story. It does not just tell you a story but each and every character were brought to life. He was writting for 5 years before he write this book. The experince of the author in writting sure help him to make the story much more interesting. His knowledge about the Greek Gods and Goddesses are also wide. He was able to write twist and turns on the story without changing the personality and the real characteristic of the Greek Gods and Goddesses. This prove his expertise in writting.
The book can compete not just in the genre of fantasy/mythology but also in genre of drama and romance. The plot of the story will really gives you different idea on how the book will end but the end you least expect, will be the actual ending of the story. This story taught me to fight even though the people around you judge you based on you parents action. All you need in not the approval of everyone but a few who truely trust you and believe on your capabilities.
