Poverty is a very rampant in Philippines, it is one of the common cause why many people died in our country. According to Britannica.com poverty is the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. It simply means that if lack of your basic needs you are experiencing poverty. Poverty can affect your access of fundamental human rights and dignity such as the right to food and nutrition, access to education, health, housing, and decent work.
Poverty has strong structural causes and governments, in this regard, have a crucial role to play in addressing these root causes and creating an enabling environment for each segment of the population to be able to enjoy their rights and have their dignity respected. Member States ought to start with the political reforms to make the ‘Right to live in dignity’ a fundamental right in their constitution – without which ending poverty will remain as a slogan (Poverty Eradication Cluster, 2017).
In the Philippines poverty is very is one of the greatest hindrance and obstacle of every Filipino. According to worldbank.org Most poor Filipinos have low levels of education and live in large households headed by individuals who are self-employed or work in agriculture as laborers or smallholder producers. The poorest households are those dependent on agriculture as their main source of income and most of them live in the countryside, in areas prone to disasters or in the conflict-affected areas of Mindanao.
Four out of the top 5 poorest regions in the Philippines are in Mindanao, according to data from the 2015 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region X (Northern Mindanao), Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN), Region XIII (CARAGA), and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) registered poverty incidence above 39% in 2015.Meanwhile, Region XI (Davao Region) had a poverty incidence of 26.7%.The poverty figures in these regions in 2015 are above the national average of 26.3%.ARMM, where Lanao del Sur is located, is the poorest region with at least 59% of its 3,781,387 population living below the poverty threshold.
But because of the program of the government the poverty decrease. Like The 4Ps program, which is estimated to have contributed about 25 percent of the decline in poverty, extends monthly cash grants to the poorest of the poor families in exchange for the recipient families’ commitments to keep young children in school and for mothers to submit to regular health checkups.

The program is now on its 11th year. Contributing an estimated 15 percent drop in poverty are entrepreneurial activities ranging from agriculture-related trades among poor households in rural areas to lower-end services among urban poor, along with businesses pursued by the non-poor (World Bank’s PEU).
Poverty has become a great issue in our country. Though many organizations of our government have been created to find solutions for this matter nobody could not save our country completely from poverty. The most common fact which we can realize when we consider on information about poverty is that poverty is mostly occurring in developing countries. Encouraging people who have volunteered to provide facilities such as pure water, foods filled with nutrients, living places to poor people and who’re conducting charity services to develop the lives of them, by offering special rewards and admiring them in various ways would be a good way to increase the number of voluntary workers. And we should unite us one so that poverty would be solve in our country.
